Approximately 10 years ago both myself and long time friend Aakin picked up Sony VAIO computers. I got a desktop while he snagged a laptop. We bought these computers because we wanted to play Diablo 2. The game finally prompted us to upgrade aging computer systems, changing our behavior. Was it worth it in hindsight? Probably not, as Sony VAIO systems weren’t very resilient. But we enjoyed the game and many other applications so it’s difficult to judge. In the search for viral patterns that can sustain and nourish rapid growth for our budding web business I came across a few other yard sale search sites. One had a well designed iPhone app and site (Garage Sales Tracker, Rich contacted me representing their site so the least I could do was link back), another was a stand alone web site that’s been around a while but neither is positioned quite the same way as garagedollar.

Nostat.us is a message first service, where communication is king.
Today I’m taking a crack at documenting a brief api for Nostat.us, Victus Media’s simple group messaging service. I expect there may be some changes and iterating while we home in on a solid framework. The first steps are important, and we’ve opted to expose as much of the process as possible while releasing an interesting alternative to other social web options. The examples shown are JavaScript access but any favorite web programming language will do.
