Mango Orange i3theme, user controlled windows. I too love the theme. I wanted my virtual playground to be cozier, and user modable.

I agree on the 10-15%, I'd like to pull in the folks on the fence too. Those 30 seconds guys and gals that are almost ready to commit to a read. We are reading much of the same material, but we're still a pretty massive Hidra. Incredibly diverse perspectives are more powerful at the social search of a problem space.

There are a large numbers of reasons for this.

Which are well outlined I see on looking at your links. I still think web designers have a long ways to go to make something look quality as well as read like quality. Most stuff is crap, especially if you look for a fluffy topic umm such as what is the meaning of a soulmate (don't make fun of me)

A) I love the new look. It is so damn clean. So nice looking. OMG!!!

B) You are right about the limited value of social networking. You need to see Mark Suster's post today about comments though and the value of disqus. It might equally be that the value is the glue between the people that do read.

Either this means we now live in an echo chamber (we are all reading the same people's stuff) or that over time social networking tools act like flytrap glue. You have to be engaging to the 10% that will stay, rather than the rest.

I'm pretty sure I'm writing for the readers, I don't think I can properly pass on my thoughts in a format that is compatible with the scanners. Luckily my fiance has agreed to help me, she just told me she's a web page scanner.

Of course you need to balance the abbreviation of style with the type of information and reader that you are trying to connect with.
