[...] After a burst of emails back and forth I had both a beta account and a great feeling about the company. What Pandu and Harish are working to achieve is a self sustaining profit sharing web community. Their model is similar to Squidoo.com but with plans for their 32% ownership transferring to the community over 8 years following a “trigger event” of 80,000 community members (here’s a self plug to my Squidoo lenses).
Great questions Dave!
I do only have one "venture" in the works right now. It's a project dedicated to making good use of our social media information (contextual 2way search and advertising). I ran into some technical difficulties and have been actively seeking out more experienced web programmers who may share my interests (I've made some progress but need to dig in much further and get user feedback).

My day job is as an engineer (systems, algorithm design and implementation), but it's something I find myself being pulled away from towards more web centric and open pursuits. Each of the lenses represents me spending a day or two researching a topic, although some were the result of months of reading, commenting and learning.

As far as being perceived as an expert, I don't consider it too often. I just hope some of the info I can't help but write about ends up being interesting or useful to others.

Mark,

Is there one specific business venture you are focusing on now? It seems like you've got your energies dispersed in a number of different directions. Also, is the goal of wanting to be seen as an expert in conflict with having so many Squidoo lenses? I don't know, I'm just asking. I wonder if perceptions about your depth of knowledge about a particular subject vary inversely with the number different topics you've written about.

Ha so Zemanta discovered a linked to your dream post, excellent Mahendra. I really enjoyed it and wished I had spent the effort to create something similar after I stopped working on Dreamsnare.

Small world :)

Interesting that your first community site was about dreams. In June, I did a post on the best dream sites on the web:
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/the-best-sites-to-...
